What can a pill do for your survival? A lot according to Daryl Stevenett, founder of LifeCaps.
He is marketing a supervitamin pill called LifeCaps that is supposed to provide basic vitamins and minerals in a chewable pill that can replace meals in an emergency.
Stevenett claims he consumed only water and LifeCaps for 17 days under medical supervision, having his blood tested and everything was fine.
The website says that the pill does not contain the RDI calorie intake of over 2000 calories so you will still lose weight, but the pills effectively make you feel ‘satiated’ while suppling essential vitamins and nutrients.
If his claims can be substantiated LifeCaps would be a great addition to a survival kit, especially mobile short term kits you keep in your car.
I would like to know the shelf life and storage temperature sensitivity of LifeCaps for such an application.

The currant shelf life of life caps is 3 years without refrigeration, however the newest version coming out soon will have a shelf life of 5 years. However if yoy reftregerate them it will double the shelf life. UI have been testing Life Caps in extrenm situations and have been verty impressed. As a mom of two small children I am very excited to have this product available on the market. I think every family should have some in their vehicle at least on a just in case basis. These are ridiculous. I personally wouldnt trust this with the health of my fingernails, much less, my life in a food scarce environment!! The company is totally sketchy, also they dont even have as many essential vitamins and nutrients as ANY multivitamin at GNC. Look more closely and you’ll notice their “Slender Caps,” “Vita POW,” and “Life Caps,” all have the same exact ingridients. An average, HEALTHY human can survive 1-2 months without food as long as they have adequate water. 17 days this guy went without food? Miracle pill? no way. You can do it too. youll be hungry but manageable. I’d steer clear of this rip off and go find a more complete multivitamin. The MOST important item for a survival kit = water or a source of it. Dont rely on this crap, thinking that it will keep you alive for weeks. thats why we humans have fat. btw: RDAs are a terrible way of judging to see if youre getting the vitamins you need. this “multivitamin” having 100% of a few vitamins does not mean its a good vitamin.

If you want a survival FOOD. the best you’re gonna get is a gelpack or a dried pack (in terms of shelf life).
Hope I may have clarified some things.
As a trained survival hiker with over ten years experience the first thing I want to say is to have energy to keep your body going with even the most basic needs air, blood flow.and temp regulation you need caloric intake without this you will die. That being said this pill can not and does not work. No one should rely on it under survival circumstances as the sole source of nutrients. Your best bet for survival food is military MRE’s (Meals Ready to Eat, Freeze-dried food, or dried fruits and jerky.
